Louise Bourgeois
I braved the Louise Bourgeois Show last Friday with Pierson, my 2-year-old. I only had about an hour before we had to hop on the train and head home for bedtime. But in that hour I found some new favorites and was totally re-convert to Louis Bourgeois.
Her ability to transcend the medium is inspirational. And her subject matter is sincere--revolving around life, humanity and relationships. I enjoyed the aesthetic of her new rooms/cells. And Pierson favored the towers (I know because he kept telling me that he wanted to knock them over).
I had a few favorite drawings, but haven't been able to find images of them online. They were part of Bourgeois work that I had never seen before.
Bourgeois is apparent in all her work--from drawing to created environments--but the work also develops with the time and the course of the art world. Bravo!
Pierson's second favorite thing (not part of the show):

About Me
- KRISTIN
- Brooklyn, NY
- I am a artist living in Brooklyn and currently an artist-in-residence with Chashama at the Brooklyn Army Terminal. I have been working in encaustic for the past few years, but am usually trying out a couple of different art making media at once. Peter Everett once called my work kitch, but I don't think it bothers me.
